On March 13th, the 2026 Car Expo Research Institute Expert Media Exchange Conference and Intelligent Electric Vehicle Development High Level Forum Media Release Conference was held in Beijing. The meeting was presided over by Liu Xiaoshi, vice chairman of Chebaihui, and attended by leaders and experts such as Ouyang Minggao, academician of the CAS Member, Zhang Yongwei, chairman of Chebaihui, vice chairman of Chebaihui, and Shi Jianhua, president of Chebaihui Think Tank Research Institute. They had in-depth exchanges with the media around key issues of the new energy automobile industry.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman Shi Jianhua gave a detailed introduction to the latest progress and overall preparation of the annual heavyweight forum of Chebaihui Research Institute. The high-level forum on the development of intelligent electric vehicles is scheduled to be held at the Beijing National Convention Center from April 11th to 12th, focusing on the theme of "promoting the intelligent, green, integrated, and international development of new energy". Two major upgrades have been made in terms of content and form: first, the core reshaping, establishing the dual core lines of "intelligent" and "electric", more accurately responding to the new stage of industry development, and more clearly demonstrating the achievements and future trends of industrial transformation; The second is to upgrade the experience, by optimizing the venue layout, expanding the scale of the conference, setting up diverse topics with a more open attitude, and striving to create an efficient and pragmatic new platform for industry exchange that connects supply and demand.
In terms of agenda structure, this forum adopts a "1+1+8" structure and holds a total of 10 meetings, including 1 high-level forum, 1 international forum, and 8 themed forums. At the same time as the forum, a series of exhibitions and research results release activities will also be held to comprehensively present the latest trends and developments in the industry.

Academician Ouyang Minggao: Pure electric drive enters a new cycle, all solid state battery patents lead the world
At the meeting, Academician Ouyang Minggao delivered a keynote speech titled "Review and Prospect of China's Automotive Pure Electric Drive Technology Transformation Strategy", systematically reviewing the development process of the pure electric drive new energy vehicle industry from multiple dimensions such as technological innovation path, market development pattern, and policy environment evolution, and making forward-looking judgments on future development trends.
Academician Ouyang Minggao stated that a new cycle of high-quality development led by innovation will begin in 2026. Looking ahead to the next five years, technological innovation will focus on seven directions: full process safety, full climate supercharging/energy replenishment, fully autonomous driving, fully controlled chassis, all solid state batteries, high efficiency under all operating conditions, and fully functional electric vehicles. He predicted that with the development of technology, the advantages of pure electric drive new energy vehicles will become increasingly prominent, and by 2035, all passenger cars will enter the category of pure electric drive technology.
Regarding the highly anticipated all solid state battery, Ouyang Minggao stated that China will catch up from 2024, and new public patents for all solid state batteries have accounted for 44% of the world's total, surpassing Japan. He expects to achieve 300-350 watt hours/kg of all solid state battery vehicle validation within three to five years, but calls for "cautious promotion of industrialization and not rolling around".

Experts respond to hot topics: AI will deeply reshape the automotive industry, and short-term market fluctuations are a normal phenomenon
In the Q&A session, the expert team responded to hot topics of concern to media reporters, such as technological breakthroughs, market growth drivers, and business model innovation.
In response to recent market data fluctuations, Chairman Zhang Yongwei stated that the data for January and February are subject to normal fluctuations due to multiple factors such as the Spring Festival cycle, policy changes, and technological transformations. The market will gradually become active in March and April.
Regarding the impact of artificial intelligence on the automotive industry, Academician Ouyang Minggao believes that AI is profoundly changing the underlying architecture and research and development models of automobiles. Taking autonomous driving as an example, the technological path has shifted from "rule-based, manually written code" to "end-to-end, data-driven", and now even AI can be used to write programs. The battery design also fully incorporates AI technology from materials to manufacturing. He predicted that the arrival of world models and general artificial intelligence may be faster than expected.
At the same time, he emphasized the importance of "differentiation": some companies choose to fully embrace artificial intelligence, even shifting from "car manufacturing" to "AI technology companies", such as Tesla, but this is not the only path applicable to all companies and cannot blindly follow the trend.
In terms of the battery industry, Academician Ouyang Minggao pointed out that it is necessary for car companies to independently develop batteries. As the core technology of electric vehicles, batteries will be difficult for car companies to establish themselves without relevant technological accumulation. Academician Ouyang Minggao believes that the expansion behavior of battery manufacturers is mainly due to the explosive growth of the energy storage market.
However, capacity expansion will be accompanied by structural overcapacity. With the evolution of energy storage batteries towards single 1000 ampere hours, the technological system of power batteries such as overcharging and thermal management is constantly upgrading, and the technical threshold and safety requirements are significantly increasing. The industry is gradually concentrating on advantageous enterprises with core technologies. In the next round of competition, the total amount will double and the difficulty will also double. It is a huge opportunity for excellent enterprises, but for enterprises lacking technological accumulation, it means surplus
